Works - All That Remains

 Works – All That Remains

In this collection of works, the days spent becoming fully present in “The House of Belonging” are made ponderable in the form of stitch, print, hand-dyed cloth, and spoken word.

Daily messages, light-hearted texts “Idyllic wee setting”, “A tailwind home”, so simple and yet with decades of recollections their weight at times became almost too heavy to hold onto. Lightness arrived in the felt connection to my adopted home through carefully hand-picked leaves, fallen olives, and the many exhausted tea bags from time spent in isolation. These gifts of place were gently laid within the protective embrace of the cotton cloth.

A poet’s words and my own hands are evident within these multi-layered works, that I hope offer the viewer a moment to pause and consider what it means to belong, what it means to feel at home, and the importance of connecting to place through deep listening, contemplation, and touch.
